Medical Jewelry

Looking for medical jewelry? You’ll find a wide range of styles available- many engravable, so you can add your personal information to it. I started wearing a medical alert necklace last year. I should have been wearing one for 3 years, but I was in denial. Thankfully, I snapped out of it and realized that something as small and simple as a medical alert necklace could literally save my life.

Imagine someone coming upon you unconscious– you can’t speak, you can’t tell them that you’re Diabetic, or that you’re on blood thinners, or that you have allergies, or take seizure medication….by alerting emergency responders with mecidal jewelry, they can start treating you, or your loved one much faster, because they’ll have a better understanding of what might be happening….please don’t live in denial like I did for years.

If someone you love should be wearing medical alert jewelry, and is hesitant, maybe getting them a nice piece of jewelry and offering it as a gift would help make the difference.

Just in Case

Just when I thought I didn’t need a medical alert necklace anymore - I was wrong. Don’t let that be you….

I’m a diabetic, and recently I went off my medication, had it under control — and was feeling high on the hog. Let’s face it, I felt like I wasn’t a diabetic anymore and I got lazy and sloppy with the things I was putting in my body.

Imagine my surprise when out of nowhere my head started to feel dizzy. I just didn’t feel like myself. My legs felt heavy as I walked down the 2 steps that led to the family room….did I need to eat something, what was going on? Honestly, I just wasn’t thinking….so I went and ate something. Only after I started to eat did I then think to check my blood sugars….rut-roh! My blood sugars were on the climb - something they hadn’t done for awhile, and I had just increased that by eating more. What was I thinking? I wasn’t - that’s the problem…my head started spinning….not good.

Thankfully I knew to start moving to try to get my blood sugars down, burn some energy I thought….get moving….I’m glad to say my story ends on a happy note, and I ended up being okay - but just because your diabetes is under control doesn’t mean it can’t spiral in an isolated incident.

Wearing a medical tag is important. What if you collapse and you can’t speak for yourself? Who will tell the emergency team or anyone who stops to help you that you have diabetes?
